The Ewa Mall Expansion at Ala Moana Center added 1.5 million square feet to the world's largest open-air mall, with complex construction and logistics required to keep the site open to the public and functioning during construction. The parking structure gained 819,000 square feet by adding five levels atop the existing four-story structure, remaining open throughout with strategic phasing.

Key improvements include ownership coordination and management oversight on a condo tower near the new Bloomingdale's anchor, along with cosmetic renovations to the center and food court, plus the build-out of six custom food kiosks.

Utility & Offsite Infrastructure:

  • Undergrounding of power lines

  • Upgraded large fiber backbone

  • New electrical vaults and circuit feeding expansion

  • New gas main

  • Offsite traffic signalization and ramp installations

Construction Highlights:

  • 4,800 tons of rebar

  • 2,600 tons of structural steel

  • Nine cranes on-site, the most for any project in Hawaii

  • 940 Auger Cast Piles were drilled at depths ranging 50 - 70' deep

  • 100 micropyles were installed as foundation support for certain structural elements within the existing parking garage
